Top Ten Tuesday ~ Ten Websites I Love

"Top Ten Tuesday" is an original feature/weekly meme created on the blog "The Broke and the Bookish". This feature was created because they are particularly fond of lists at "The Broke and the Bookish". Since I am just as fond of them as they are, I jump at the chance to share my lists with them! Have a look at their page, there are lots of other bloggers who share their lists here

May 10: Ten Websites I Love
... that Aren't About Books (you could go specific and do like top ten favorite food/travel/craft/fitness blogs I follow, 10 websites I visit daily, 10 fun websites I waste a lot of time on etc.)

It's really tough for me to find some that are not about books but there are a few blogs I follow, so here we go, in alphabetical order because I couldn't possibly put them in order of importance:

Duoblilo
Allows me to type texts with Esperanto signs without having to use ASCII codes all the time.

Duolingo

A pretty new site where you can study any language from the beginning or somewhere in the middle at your own pace. And it's free!

Facebook

I have a love-hate relationship with this site. I love that I can be in touch with friends but I would like to be able to control a little more what I see. And I definitely would like to see fewer political posts.

Google

Maps A lot better than many navigation systems. I love to check out a new route on here before I drive it for the first time.

IMDb

The Internet Movie Data Base - a Must for all film fans.

Pinterest

I love this site, I can easily store links that I like and pictures that are beautiful etc. etc. Of course, quite a few of my albums have to do with books but not all of them.

Wikipedia

A huge encyclopaedia that informs you about anything and everything. What's not to love?

And, last but not least, some blogs by friends:

Ardith's Art Journal
Ardith is a great artist whom I met on FB

Meine Sucht, die Socken
A German site by a good friend who likes to knit.

Sunderwarp

A blog by a journalist FB friend who writes about this and that from time to time.

Of course, I could go on and on with this. There are so many hobby pages I love and so many of my friends have fabulous blogs but I had to stop at some point, right?

  1. Good list, I want to go look up the Duolingo one. I use IMDB a lot and Wikipedia too. Love Pinterest, are you on there? Can I follow your pins?

    1. But of course you can. I pinned a lot of things when I first got on there but have tried to slow down. LOL. You will find me here.

I am glad you agree with me about the pages. I totally recommend Duolingo, it's so easy to get (back) into a language. Love it.

      Have a good day,

    2. I went to Duolingo and I'm working on my German. We have a trip planned to London/Berlin/Prague for next year.

  2. I can surely empathize with your desire to see less "Political" posts on FB. I had always used my Timeline ONLY for Christian posts ... Until January 30, 2016 when God supernaturally put three "Signs" on the Face of my Cell Phone In early am hours, upon which seeing in complete amazement, He spoke: "I want you to Post these on FB and then "Go Political." As is my covenant with Him, I obeyed. God must have OBEDIENT people in order to have His Will in the affairs of Men on Earth. I shall Obey until released to return to CHRISTIAN MESSAGES (which I surely prefer.)

    1. Well, I don't mind political messages as much if they are well founded and not just putting down the opposition. That's what a lot of people seemt o do. Will they change my mind about the way I see politics? Surely not. I will just think less of them, even if I try not to. I am sure you know what I mean.

      Thanks for stopping by.

  3. Completely agree about FB and political posts. IMDB yes! Google maps and Wikipedia yes. Netflix for movies. The Morning News for quirky news articles. If there is a current war going on (like when isn't there) I like War News Updates, a blog on blogger. But truly most of my time online is with sites and blogs about books. Like yours!

    1. Every day I find we have more in common, with every post. I am interested in politics and read the news and watch the news and - as you can see from my reading - also read a lot about it in the books I chose. But I hate all those hate posts many people put on FB, it doesn't change my mind about politics but might change my mind about them. ;)

As I said, I found it hard to choose, it would have been SO much easier to make a list of book sites I follow. LOL.

      Have a good day,
      Marianne
