As I already mentioned, no, I wouldn't call it chick-lit, either.
The books I read were Je voudrais quelqu’un m’attende quelque part and 35 kilos d’espoir. I did like them both, preferred the latter because it was a proper book rather than short stories but even the short stories were nice.Marianne https://www.blogger.com/profile/11810275740213848634noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1009417175818512962.post-28228662233599740862022-09-22T20:01:04.413+02:002022-09-22T20:01:04.413+02:00Well, as you know, now I read it and enjoyed it a ...Well, as you know, now I read it and enjoyed it a lot. I liked what she did with the characters, and she touched lots of important French themes. Mostly, she did great with the flowing writing, with tons of references and cultural jokes. Maybe difficult to catch if you haven't lived in France these past decades. I did explain several references to my Mexican student, who had no way to even see there was a joke.
I think it is too existential to be classified as chick-lit
You wrote on my blog that you preferred other books by her. Which one did you prefer?Emma at Words And Peace / France Book Tourshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09426924864218623976noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1009417175818512962.post-36313436746056733792022-03-16T11:19:24.689+01:002022-03-16T11:19:24.689+01:00That probably explains it. They showed the film in the original in a nearby cinema later and those of us who spoke French went and watched it. It was alright but, no, not my thing.Marianne https://www.blogger.com/profile/11810275740213848634noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1009417175818512962.post-64998025283248918312022-03-15T17:37:38.073+01:002022-03-15T17:37:38.073+01:00Hmm, I'm not too hopeful. We'll see how it goesEmma at Words And Peace / France Book Tourshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09426924864218623976noreply@blogger.com
