I found this on one of the blogs I follow, Books are the New Black who found it at One Book More. It was originally created by Reviews from the Stacks, and the idea is to spell the month using the first letter of book titles.

Jane Austen is a great read for any time of the year and this cover looks very summery, don't you think?U
Mayes, Frances "Under the Tuscan Sun" - 1996
Tuscany, that already sounds like summer and is a place that many people like to visit then.N
Bryson, Bill "Neither Here Nor There. Travels in Europe" - 1991
My favourite travel writer writes about his summer in Europe.

Austen, Jane "Emma" - 1816 (The Motherhood and Jane Austen)
Emma, a book by Jane Austen. But in an Austen Year, I think we cannot mention her enough. Anyway, there is a great summer outing to Box Hill which is very important for the whole story.

Happy Reading!

I do love Under the Tuscan Sun and Emma! And Bill Bryson's books are also fun reads. :D
ReplyDeleteThe former wasn't my favourite, Lark. I think I read too many similar books to that one.
DeleteBut Emma, or anything by Jane Austen!!! Brilliant! And Bill Bryson is just fantastic. Such a shame he doesnt't write anymore.
Bill Bryson is my favorite travel writer too!
ReplyDeleteMy regional JASNA group is having our annual "Strawberries at Donwell Abbey" get together this Sunday. Maybe we should have a Picnic at Box Hill get together in August as well. Definitely some wonderful summery scenes in Emma.
He definitely is a fantastic travel writer, Jane. I couldn't think of many who are even remotely as funny as he is.
DeleteStrawberries at Donwell Abbey sounds fantastic!!! Such a lovely idea. And Picnic at Box Hill is definitely a great idea, as well.
Have you posted about this? Must explore.
And you are certainly an honorary member, bearing the same first name as the beloved author.
Enjoy everything Jane-related.
I've read three of your books. the only one I haven't read is the Bill Bryson, although I have read several of his books!
ReplyDeleteI have read everything by Bill Bryson, Margaret. I would love to read more but he has decided to stop writing, unfortunately.
