"Top Ten Tuesday" is an original feature/weekly meme created on the blog "The Broke and the Bookish". It was created because they are particularly fond of lists. It is now hosted by Jana from That Artsy Reader Girl.
Since I am just as fond of them as they are, I jump at the chance to share my lists with them! Have a look at their page, there are lots of other bloggers who share their lists here.
This week's topic is Modern Books You Think Will Be Classics In The Future
A modern classic, then, would have to be a book written after World War I, and probably after World War II.

Some of these authors have written earlier books where I am even more convinced that they will become classics, but I have tried to stick to books written in this century.

📚 Happy Reading 📚

This was a difficult for me, and I'm not sure I'm convinced so far. So I did a spin, in combo with #scifimonth: https://wordsandpeace.com/2025/11/18/scifimonth-2025-top-ten-classic-science-fiction-novels/
ReplyDeleteI can imagine, Emma. I had a hard time deciding which ones not to use. LOL
DeleteNice picks! Here is my TTT.https://dmhoisington.wordpress.com/2025/11/18/top-ten-tuesday-10/
ReplyDeleteThanks, Danyelle. Looking forward to your list.
DeleteI have enjoyed the Geraldine Brooks books that I have read, but I haven't read this one yet! I need to get to it.
ReplyDeleteIf you liked her books so far, Erin, you definitely are in for some nice new reads in the future. I loved all of her books. This one was especially intersting.
DeleteThe Book Thief was definitely special.
ReplyDeleteIt was indeed, Stephen. And since I have seen it on quite a few other lists, I am sure this will become a classic.
DeleteBased upon the popularity of several of these books, I would agree.
ReplyDeleteMost of them will be classic authors, I am sure, Cindy.
DeleteOh I think I solved the commenting problem I was having! I tried to comment while on the WP app….when I opened the website version on my browser, I was able to log in, no problem!
ReplyDeleteI almost put GiM on my list and then I wondered if it was widely read enough 🤷♀️
That's fantastic, Carol. I will try to remember that when someone else mentions their problem.
DeleteSince GiM is one of the newer books, I am sure it will be even more popular in future. And it is well written with a great story. Well, we'll see.
I've read 'Remarkable Creatures' and 'Midnight Library' (both excellent books).... I've still got 'Shadow of the Wind', 'Gentleman in Moscow' and 'Book Thief' to look forward to. Maybe *next* year [lol]
ReplyDeleteThose are a few books that you will love, Kitten. Enjoy.
DeleteI totally agree with you about A Gentleman in Moscow! What a fantastic book. :D
ReplyDeleteTogether with Midnight Library, it's one of the newer books that I only read very recently. But I found them both so fantastic, I had to include them. Thanks, Lark.
DeleteAdichie, Ruiz Zafón and Towles are definitely going to be classics. I have not read the others so can't tell, but trust you on this.
ReplyDeleteYou are so right, Lisbeth. I am sure you would enjoy all the others, as well.
DeleteSome of these are classics I still need to get to: like The Shadow of the Wind and A Gentleman in Moscow and Remarkable Creatures. Thanks.
ReplyDeleteOh, there is a whole series of the Cemetery of Forgotten Books waiting for you, then, Susan. I envy you. Since the author died, there will be no more of his books. He was fantastic.
DeleteAnything by Geraldine Brooks and Joyce Carol Oates are great choices!!
ReplyDeleteOooooh, I totally agree with you there, Lisa. Thanks.
DeleteOoh, The Shadow of the Wind! I read The Glass Palace so many years ago (probably when I was too young to really grasp it) but I would like to re-read it one day :) Great list!
ReplyDeleteIt's been a while for me, as well, Dini. And it still is with me, that's why I put it on the list. I hope you will re-read it one day - and take on some of his other books, he's a great author.
