Top Ten Tuesday ~ Places on My Bucket List

"Top Ten Tuesday" is an original feature/weekly meme created on the blog "The Broke and the Bookish". It was created because they are particularly fond of lists. It is now hosted by Jana from That Artsy Reader Girl.

Since I am just as fond of them as they are, I jump at the chance to share my lists with them! Have a look at their page, there are lots of other bloggers who share their lists here.

This week's topic is Books About/Set In Places on My Bucket List.

I have been to many places in Europe but there always some countries and/or towns that I'd really like to see. If you are missing a certain country where you think I certainly would love to go, it's probably because I've been there before, often several times.

Canada
Lawson, Mary "Crow Lake" - 2002

  1. One your list I've visited Australia (Fun), Canada (Fun), Italy (Amazing), New Zealand (Wonderful), and Spain (SO interesting). Norway would definitely be on my 'Bucket List' if I had one!

    1. I've been to Italy but not to the cities I mentioned. Norway is the only Scandinavian country I haven't visited (if you discount Iceland where I wouldn't mind going but it's not high on my list). I doubt that I'll ever make the faraway countries. But thanks for your recommendations, Kitten.

  2. I'm only familiar with DOWN UNDER....very funny book. Can't see ever going to Australia, though. I hate long airplane rides. After 4 hours I'm antsy.

    1. 27 hours was my longest - although that does include a 5hr stop-over @ San Francisco, so really only 22...

    2. Bill Bryson is one of the best writers, ever, Stephen.
I don't think I'll ever do an airplane ride again, even shorter ones. All that being there three hours in advance, then sitting around, boarding, etc. All too stressful for me.
So, I guess that was on your way to Australia and/or New Zealand, Kitten?

    3. Yes, a friend & I flew to Sydney via San Francisco for the Millennium in 2000. We also visited New Zealand while there. We stayed for 3 days in San Francisco on the way back to England. We were out for 3 weeks, spent a LOT of money and got back *exhausted*. TOTALLY worth it!

    4. I'm sure it was. We should have done that earlier but there was always a reason not to. No money, little children. Well, it's too late now.

    1. Rutherfurd is the best author for that, don't you think, Lisa?

  4. I do like the idea of traveling to different places inside books. I didn't read any of these books but I like the places they took place in.

    Have a lovely day.

    1. I can recommend them all, Lissa. Start with the Canadian one, I'm sure you'll love it.
And yes, as I get older and frailer, I travel mostly through books. Always so exciting.

    1. And it certainly deserves to be there, Lydia. Thanks for your visit.

  6. My list is quite short, as I have to be realistic about how much traveling abroad Eleanor and I can do. Ireland and the UK for sure, plus France for Eleanor of Aquitaine. Poland and Germany for WWII. Iceland because I am a winter baby through and through.

    1. Oh, I am sure I won't be able to visit even half of them since I find long trips very difficult. But, please, let me know when you come to Germany. I would love to meet you.

  7. I agree with Russia. It seems so historic and beautiful.

    1. Definitely, Rue. Unfortunately, there have been so many bad times for the country and especially the people. But I still would have loved to see it.
