Definitely. I am not a huge fan of Maikäfer but even worse are the Junikäfer that turned up a couple of years ago. Fortunately, none in our garden but I've seen some at friends houses. Ugly and awful.
What I found is this: A European June beetle has the Latin name "Amphimallon solstitiale." The variety here is "Cotinis nitida." So they do seem to be different.
So beautiful.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Lark. This is when we go to the other side of our street (the left side was last week). Only a minute or so to reach. We are very blessed.
DeleteLooks like beeches?! Lovely, Marianne. It is so much greener by you. We are still waiting for our tulips to open up.
ReplyDeleteThey are indeed beeches Eva. This is not a current picture, I posted it as a follow-up to last week's one to show the other side from our house.
DeleteI see. Do you get "Maikäfer" on them?
DeleteI haven't seen "Maikäfer", but "Marienkäfer".
DeleteThey are much more common.

DeleteOh, I have never seen those. But we have June beetles here, but they are not super ugly.
DeleteMaybe they're the same, Eva. I tried to google it but couldn't find the specific species.

DeleteThat can be the one. Thanks, Eva.
