"Top Ten Tuesday" is an original feature/weekly meme created on the blog "The Broke and the Bookish". It was created because they are particularly fond of lists. It is now hosted by Jana from That Artsy Reader Girl.
Since I am just as fond of them as they are, I jump at the chance to share my lists with them! Have a look at their page, there are lots of other bloggers who share their lists here.
This week's topic is Books with the Word [Insert Word Here] in the Title (We can choose a word and find ten books with that word in the title.)
For me, there was no big question which word to choose because I read a lot of books about that topic: History.
Ackroyd, Peter "The History of England, Vol. 2 Tudors" - 2012 (my favourite period)
Carey, Peter "True History of the Kelly Gang" - 2001
Clinton, Hillary Rodham "Living History" - 2003
Hawking, Stephen "A Brief History of Time: From the Big Bang to Black Holes" - 1988
Hirst, John "The Shortest History of Europe" - 2009

Great collection here! I've read a couple of them!
ReplyDeleteThanks, SSM. Some of these are really great. Which ones have you read?
DeleteNice word choice for this week's TTT post! I've read A Short History of Tractors in Ukranian and enjoyed it.
ReplyDeleteThat was a really good one, Lisa. We read it in our book club.
DeleteThat's the perfect word for you! I love it. :D
ReplyDeleteHaha, thanks, Lark. You know me so well.
DeleteThe Bryson book was eye-opening!
ReplyDeleteHis books are fantastic, Stephen. I don't know a single one that I didn't like. And I read them all.
DeleteLove your selection! So many interesting books to check out!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Lin. This is one of my absolute favourite categories, so I have lots to share.
DeleteThere was another person who did history as well. Great word!
ReplyDeleteOh, I haven't seen that. Must explore. Thanks, Cindy.
DeleteI too would have chosen history as my word!
ReplyDeleteI wouldn't have been surprised, Sarah.
DeleteGreat list here, and I loved the Lewycka book.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Anon. It was a very good one.
DeleteGreat choice of word! I think I have a few books that would fit this prompt, including Bryson and Tartt!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Dini. I love history, so that was one word I knew I'd have plenty of books.
DeleteA Brief History of Time sounds interesting.
ReplyDeleteDefinitely interesting, Lydia. I mean, he was one of the greatest scientists of our time.
DeleteOhh, I like your choice of word too! Donna Tartt is on my TBR, actually, and I've heard so many good things about this book of hers. Also, Hawking's book is one I have been wanting to read! I would absolutely check out the Tudors' love for this time period
ReplyDeleteThanks, Lin. I have read two books by Dona Tartt, this and The Goldfinch. Both fantastic. And the Hawking book is absolutely worth reading. Not the easiest one for someone like me who did bad at Physics, but I am glad I finished it.
DeleteAnd The Tudors is one of my favourite eras in history, so much was happening. Not that I would have wanted to live then, I think we are better off now.
Great choice!
ReplyDeleteI read (and hated) your last one!
I was curious: I read 20 books with history in the title. The latest being Masha Gessen's The Future is History
The Secret History? Wow, I loved it. But we can't all like the same books.
DeleteI never heard of Masha Gessen or her books, will have to explore.
