Alphabet Authors

So, now I have finished my alphabet. It was fun looking at all the letters and trying to find my favourite author among them.  In the end, only Q and X are missing.

Some of them were really easy (e.g. Jane Austen), others were harder because I could have named several authors for the letter. And then there were those where I really only had read one or two by an author with that name but though I liked the books, I might not have chosen them for this challenge, had there been someone else.

Find the individual lists here:

A is for Jane Austen

B is for Pearl S. Buck

C is for Albert Camus

D is for Charles Dickens

E is for Nora Ephron

F is for Ken Follett

G is for Günter Grass

H is for Victoria Hislop

I is for Laura Ingalls Wilder

J is for James Joyce

K is for Barbara Kingsolver

L is for Wally Lamb

M is for Thomas Mann

N is for V.S. Naipaul

O is for Joyce Carol Oates

P is for Orhan Pamuk

R is for Carlos Ruiz Zafón

S is for Mary Scott

T is for Leo Tolstoy

U is for Lyudmila Ulitzkaya

V is for Mario Vargas Llosa

W is for Alice Walker

Y is for Malala Yousafzei

Z is for Stephanie Zweig

So, my authors came from France (1), Germany (3), India (1), Ireland (1), New Zealand (1), Pakistan (1), Peru (1), Russia (2), Spain (1), Turkey (1), the UK (4) and the USA (7).

  1. This has been fun. I can see why there are no authors for X. And I could only think of a few authors with Q that I've even read...Anna Quindlen and Matthew Quick. Oh, and Amanda Quick. But I don't own any of their books.

    1. Thanks, Lark. I haven't read any books by them, maybe I should try one in order to be able to fill the alphabet. ;)

  2. Yes, letters X and Q are difficult ones to find authors for.... Have you read any books by author, Xhenet Aliu? I read and reviewed her novel, Brass, in 2021. Brass is really good and is in essence about mother/daughter relationships. Here's a link to my review: https://captivatedreader.blogspot.com/2021/05/brass-by-xhenet-aliu.html

    1. That sounds interested, Lisa. I will have to try that, just to have an author with X. LOL

  3. An impressive list, Marianne, and so many good authors and books. Yes Q and X are difficult. If you are into a little bit of romance, I can recommend Julia Quinn who wrote the books about the Bridgertons, now a Netflix series. Or, Thomas De Quincey - The Confessions of an Opium Eater if you want to read a classic. It is quite entertaining.

    1. Thanks, Lisbeth. I am not into romance at all, which I think you might have guessed already. Too simple for me, always the same scheme. They all copied from Jane Austen. ;)

  4. On your list, I only read two of the authors. I guess I'm not as widely read as I should be but my book taste is different from yours. Congratulations on finishing the challenge.

    Have a lovely day.

    1. That's true, Lissa. We all have different tastes. But we do have books in common, they just didn't make it on my list of favourite authors. May I ask who the two authors you read are?
