This week’s topic is Classics I love.
First of all, even if I repeat myself and you find it boring over time, I have to include Jane Austen. But I also love all the other books and the other ones by those authors.
Mann, Thomas "Buddenbrooks: The Decline of a Family" (GE: Buddenbrooks) - 1901
Pasternak, Boris "Doctor Zhivago" (RUS: Доктор Живаго) - 1957

📖 Happy Reading! 📖

Last summer my book group read David Copperfield and Demon Copperhead, and we enjoyed the contrast. The only other Dickens I have read is A Tale of Two Cities, which was assigned in school. I wasn't a fan while I was reading it but liked it very much once I had finished and understood what was going on!
ReplyDeleteSometimes that happens, Constance. I have read a few books that were very hard but later I was really, really happy to have finished them.
DeleteAs to reading David and Demon at the same time, or at least one after the other, is a great idea. It had been a while that I read David before Demon had been written. Must have been exciting to compare them right away. Both books were great, imho, and D.C. is my favourite Dickens novel but there are many others. Try Great Expectations.
And that's where we differ. But you included Доктор Живаго, so you are forgiven, lol
ReplyDeleteI think I told me before, Emma, that one of my greatest friends hates everything I love and vice versa. So, it's a good sign. ;)
