April 8: Top Ten Most Unique Books I've Read
(maybe the MC was really different, maybe it was the way it was written, a very unique spin on a genre or topic, etc.)
Aitmatov, Chinghiz "Jamila" (Jamilia) - 1958
Calvino, Italo "If on a Winter’s Night a Traveller" (Se una notte d’inverno un viaggiatore) - 1979
Glover, Douglas "Elle" - 2003
Hamill, Pete "Snow in August" - 1998
Kertész, Imre "Fateless" or "Fatelessness" (Sorstalanság) - 1975
Palma, Félix J. "The Map of Time" (El mapa del tiempo) - 2008
Rhue, Morton "The Wave" - 1981
Shakib, Siba "Samira and Samir" (Samira und Samir) - 2004
Smiley, Jane "The All-true Travels and Adventures of Lidie Newton" - 1998
Waltari, Mika "The Egyptian" (Sinuhe Egyptiläinen) - 1945
What an interesting list. The only one I'm familiar with is The Map of Time, my daughter gave it to me for my birthday. I haven't read it yet, but I'm looking forward to it. Will have to add most of the rest to my list.
ReplyDeleteThank kyou, Janet, as always, I appreciate you taking the time and looking at the list. I loved this subject, the hardest of this was picking only ten. I hope you will enjoy some of them, they are all worth reading, "Elle" is probably the most weird and complicated one.
DeleteHave a good day,
Marianne
Fun list!
ReplyDeleteI just wanted to let you know that I nominated you for the Liebster Award and you can check out the details on my blog http://youmeandacupofteablog.blogspot.com/2014/04/liebster-award.html
Thanks for being a great blogger! :)
How lovely. Thank you, Lois. You have only just started following me but have been one of the most frequent commenters. And now this. I feel honoured. I had a quick look at the conditions of the award and it will be fun finding my own nominees. The hardest will probably be to find enough "small" bloggers although I seem to enjoy them most.
DeleteThanks again, will reply soon and reblog.
Have a good day,
Marianne
