Top Ten Tuesday ~ Destination Titles

"Top Ten Tuesday" is an original feature/weekly meme created on the blog "The Broke and the Bookish". It was created because they are particularly fond of lists. It is now hosted by Jana from That Artsy Reader Girl.

Since I am just as fond of them as they are, I jump at the chance to share my lists with them! Have a look at their page, there are lots of other bloggers who share their lists here.

This week's topic is
Destination Titles (titles with name of places in them. These places can be real or fiction!

I love geography, I love everything about seeing where something is and how the history of that place is, how it became what it is today. So, this is a brilliant topic for me.

Buruma, Ian "Murder in AmsterdamThe Death of Theo Van Gogh and the Limits of Tolerance" (NL: Dood van en gezonde roker) - 2006

Döblin, Alfred "Berlin Alexanderplatz" (GE: Berlin Alexanderplatz) - 1929

Dorling Kindersley "Brussels. Bruges, Ghent & Antwerp" - 2000

McLain, Paula "The Paris Wife" - 2012

Pamuk, Orhan "Istanbul" (TK: İstanbul - Hatıralar ve Şehir) - 2003

Taylor, Andrew "The Ashes of London" - 2016

Zweig, Stefanie "Somewhere in Germany- 1996

All great places to visit.

📚 Happy Reading! 📚

    1. I hope you will get to them, Lisa. Which ones are they? Some of those on the list are among my favourite books.

    1. Oh, for sure, Teresa. Though I still would love to add more but I didn't find books of destinations I would have loved to add, like the Scandinavian countries.

  4. Great titles, and some of them I have read, and some of the places I have been. Good theme this week.

    1. Me too, Lisbeth. I have been to all of them, except for Lisbon. But that book is fantastic.

    1. Make sure you don't get murdered, Lydia. ;)
As I just said to Lisbeth ^^, I have been to all of those places, except for Lisbon. Amsterdam is my least favourite one of them, too touristy. And since everyone goes on bachelor nights, it's gotten even worse.

  6. I've been meaning to put together a bunch of books with locations in the title. I do already have a stack featuring 'Berlin'. I'll see if I can rustle up a few Scandinavian ones for you to check out!

    1. That's a nice idea. Thank you, Kitten. I have read books taking place in Scandinavia, just not with the names of cities in them.

    2. I think when I do my 'set' I'll concentrate on capital cities. They seem to be much more common than other locations - except for the USA for some reason. Most of them seem to have New York or Los Angeles in the title.

    3. Well, more people travel to larger cities, but I find some that concentrate one a smaller environment just as great.

  7. Several of the books on your list are on my TBR pile. You have tempted me to move them nearer the top.

    1. That's a shame, Emma. But we can't all like the same books, and this one is quite "special". I know you read all sorts of difficult books, so that can't have been the reason. Still, good for you for trying it.

  10. I have not read any of these but I have been to Istanbul, Greece, London, and London. I have also been in the Amsterdam airport ;)

    1. And that's enough you have seen of the city, Cindy. ;)
I have not been to Lisbon, apart from that, I've been to all the destinations on my list. My favourites: Brussels and Dublin.

  12. Oooooh, this would've been a fun one for me! But obviously it would have been all Europe-centered. And mainly Ireland and the UK.

    1. Of course, Sarah. But so is mine, because I mainly added locations where I've been. Besides Lisbon, but that is such a great novel, I couldn't not mention it.
