Happy February!

   Happy February to all my Friends and Readers

New Calendar picture with this
beautiful watercolour painting by Frank Koebsch
"Wintermorgen in Honnigsvag"
"Winter morning in Honnigsvag"

Hanka and Frank say to this picture:
"Bei einer unserer Reisen in den Norden mit der MS Otto Sverdrup von den Hurtigruten haben wir in Norwegen einen wunderschönen 'Wintermorgen in Honnigsvag' erlebt."
"During one of our trips to the north with the MS Otto Sverdrup from Hurtigruten, we experienced a beautiful 'winter morning in Honningsvag' in Norway.

I have never been to Norway but to other Skandinavian countries and they are all beautiful.

I can't believe the first month of the year has already passed. Time flies faster every year.

* * *

I read a couple of interesting books last month.

Brandreth, Gyles "Have You Eaten Grandma?" - 2017
and
Larsen, Nella "Passing" - 1929

While the first one is a funny approach to grammar and spelling, the second is all about racism. How do we perceive people?

I have two German words for you that somehow belong together:

Fernweh (far away pain) - the longing to go away

Wanderlust (joy and longing to walk) - strong desire to travel

* * *

We had a lot of snow in January, more than in the last years together. I rather have none but we can't choose. On the other hand, I rather have a snowy month than a very hot one.

I received a beautiful present from a blog friend that will accompany me all year round. A calendar called "A Book Lover's Year". My little reading figurine is sitting right next to it, keeping it company.

* You can also have a look under my labels Artist: Frank Koebsch and Artist: Hanka Koebsch where you can find all my posts about the two artists.

🧊 I wish you all a very Happy February! 🧊

  1. Happy February Marianne! No snow here but we have had a LOT of rain lately... I hear that in parts of Cornwall & Northern Ireland its the most rain they've had in 150 years. So... no drought THIS year - hopefully!!

    Can't go wrong with a book lovers calendar. I have my usual two up - one with the Moomins and the other with funny cat art.

    1. It is, Lark. I love it, as well. Just gives you a sentimental feeling.
      There is a reason I always add a watercolour by one of the two artists, they are so beautiful.
      Thanks for visiting and have a Happy February, as well.

  3. I like the idea of The Booklover's Year and will look for it. That's a pretty calendar page, artwork I would hang on my wall actually.

    Can't believe it's February already!

    1. I suppose you mean the one by Frank Koebsch, yes, they are all so pretty. You can buy the pictures but also posters of their paintings. The calendar I have is pretty small (like a CD) but it still is lovely.

    1. Yes, it is, Tina. That gives you a new page every day. Not all of them pictures but at least one or two every week.

  5. Happy February! So true, it is hard to believe that January is gone already. Where did it go? The winter picture at the beginning of this post is lovely, but it does look very cold. The reading figurine is the perfect addition to the calendar :).

    1. Thanks, Eva. And thanks for the lovely gift. I was so happy to receive it, so grateful. And I had to add something related to reading, of course. ;)

    1. I really can't complain about our weather here, Lissa. Other than that the summers get too hot lately, we have no extreme weather conditions. It's winter. Thanks for your good wishes. The same goes to you, have a great day.

  7. A Booklover's Year looks great. I must have a look and see if I can find it. We also have a lot of snow here, which is quite unusual. The last two days more snow, wind and cold. Waiting for spring.

    1. If you don't find it until we see each other again, I can show you mine, Lisbeth. I keep the pages for now. However, if you google it, there are several sellers online.
