#ThrowbackThursday. Jane Eyre

Brontë, Charlotte "Jane Eyre" - 1847

If you are a fan of English classics (like me), "Jane Eyre" is a definitive must.

Charlotte Brontë has created a wonderful, strong young woman. If she had lived today, she certainly would have gone exploring and conquering the world.

The book is  easy to read, easy to walk into.

We discussed this in our international book club in January 2012.

  1. There was a LOT I liked about this book when I read it back in 2015, but I did find it tough going @ times. I thought the character of Jane was very good though. I was much impressed by her. My review is here:

  2. I just re-read JANE EYRE last month for book club. It doesn't matter how many times I read it, I always enjoy it. You're right - it's a very approachable book, even for someone who's not big on classics (which I'm not, really).

    1. How interesting, Susan. I suppose your book club also liked it?

  3. Veronika and I just finished it and watched one of the many movies. The book is on most high school reading lists :). It is so tragic that all the Brontë siblings died fairly young.

    1. There are indeed many movies, Eva. My favourite is the one with Ciaran Hinds, though I haven't seen them all, so there might be another one.

    2. We have not watched that version. Yes, there are quite a few. We watched a version from 1893.

    3. Do you mean 1983? With Timothy Dalton? That's not bad, either. But still, my favourite is Ciarán Hinds, 1997.

    4. Yes, of course, 1993. That is what happens when I type without my reading glasses! Yes, that is the version. We were able to watch it online without having to go to the library and check out the DVD :).
