Happy September!

Happy September to all my friends and readers

New Calendar picture with this
beautiful watercolour painting by Frank Koebsch

"Kraniche auf dem Weg zu den Schlafplätzen"
"Cranes on their Way to their Roosts
"

Hanka and Frank say to this picture:
For me, the crane migration in autumn is one of the most beautiful natural phenomena in northern Germany.
Für mich ist der Kranichzug im Herbst eines der schönsten Naturereignisse im Norden Deutschlands.

Another great watercolour painting by Frank Koebsch. Enjoy!

True. They also pass by our house and it is always beautiful. I once could even capture their flight. See here:

August was really busy. We celebrated our 40th; wedding anniversary with friends and family. It was lovely that most of them could make it and that everyone got on so well with each other. And many had actually been present on our actual wedding. Great day!

Then we had our niece and her family come to visit for a week. They have two little boys and it was absolutely lovely to have them here, even though it was also a tad exhausting at times. But we always love company.

While helping out another niece and taking her husband to his sick parents, we were not far from the North Sea and seized the opportunity for a short trip to the water. Here are some pictures from Carolinensiel:

  1. Wow, congrats on your 40th anniversary, so lovely!

    I love cranes too!
Here, we have the sandhill cranes, which are so beautiful with their red spot. I'm also lucky to have our house under their migration paths, Spring and Fall. And for some reason, though they sometimes fly very high, I hear them coming from far away. So I often rush out of the house with binoculars and camera. There's usually a day or two when you have flock after flock for most of the day. It's really remarkable.
Happy September to you too, with lots of great books.

    1. Thanks, Lark. I was really lucky with the cranes, doesn't happen often that they form such a shape.
And thanks for your wishes to our anniversary. Nice that everyone is so happy for us.

    1. So true, Kitten, thanks. We always try to have a social time but sometimes it is a tad much. Still, we really enjoy it.

  4. Happy Anniversary! I hope the barbeque worked out. Wonderful cranes! We get the Canadian geese here, on their way south. But it is still too early for them to leave. And Carolinensiel! I biked there with my best friend Ute in high school. We spent a whole week in the area, exploring everything by bike. It is so pretty. And it is wonderful you had your niece and her boys there.

    1. Thanks, Eva. BBQs are always great and I can't remember one that didn't work out. The nice thing, you can prepare the salads etc. and then just throw the meat and veggies on the grill and you're done. Nothing easier.
And lovely that you have such great memories from Carolinensiel and that I could remind you of them.

    2. True, it is a good way to prepare a meal in advance. I love East Frisia and biking there is so much fun.
