Book Quotes of the Week

"Just the fact of a printed book is something that I don't think I'll ever get over." Marlon James

Yes, we are so blessed.

"I spent my life folded between the pages of books. In the absence of human relationships I formed bonds with paper characters. I lived love and loss through stories threaded in history; I experienced adolescence by association. My world is one interwoven web of words, stringing limb to limb, bone to sinew, thoughts and images all together. I am a being comprised of letters, a character created by sentences, a figment of imagination formed through fiction." Tahereh Mafi,
Shatter Me

I think this is definitely a quote from one of the author's characters. I can see how you can live with books and form relationships with characters but it must be quite a lonely life, as well. I am glad to have a great family and many good friends so that I can have the best of both worlds.

"Wasn’t that the point of the book? For women to realize, We are just two people. Not that much separates us. Not nearly as much as I’d thought." Kathryn Stockett,
The Help

She definitely achieved this with her story. And they even made a very good film from it, something that rarely happens.

    1. Yay, guess what, Lark. I found a way to publish your comments. I have to select your comment on my list and approve it. Why on earth that happens, I have no idea, we "talk" almost daily and the program should notice that but in future I know and can at least add your comment. Funnily enough, there was already another comment on this page and you wrote another comment the same day and that got accepted. Oh, the world of computers!!!

Anyway, I also love that quote, I had already another one by Tahereh Mafi on my list: _"I love walking into a bookstore. It's like all my friends are sitting on shelves, waving their pages at me."_

    2. I'm glad you found a way to pull my comments out of internet limbo. It's so crazy that some go through just fine and others do not. I keep having to check my spam comments because several regular bloggers keep ending up there for no good reason. Computers are so crazy.

    3. I know. Those computer programmers always think everyone has studied IT at university. I always said they'd have to work with their programs for half a year themselves before they can put it on the market and then a friend of a friend, an IT specialist, said, no, let them work on someone else's program for half a year. LOL
