Top Ten Tuesday ~ Top Ten Books that Should be Adapted into Netflix Shows/Movies

"Top Ten Tuesday" is an original feature/weekly meme created on the blog "The Broke and the Bookish". This feature was created because they are particularly fond of lists at "The Broke and the Bookish".

It is now hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl.

Since I am just as fond of them as they are, I jump at the chance to share my lists with them! Have a look at their page, there are lots of other bloggers who share their lists here.

Books that Should be Adapted into Netflix Shows/Movies

I have a rather ambiguous relationship to book adaptations but I read a book lately where I thought that they will certainly make it into a movie.

That was:
Owens, Delia "Where the Crawdads Sing" - 2018

Another one that I hope they would make something of - because then they might finally reprint the book:
Stroyar, J.N. "The Children's War" and "A Change of Regime" - 2001/2004

Then there are some of my favourite classic authors. I never get tired of watching (new and old) adaptations:
Austen, Jane
The Brontë sisters
Collins, Wilkie
Dickens, Charles
Dostoevsky, Fyodor
Eliot, George
Mann, Thomas
Tolstoy, Leo
Trollope, Anthony "Barchester Chronicles"
Wilde, Oscar

  1. Nice list! I will definitely check out some of the books you recommended. I love how most of your TTT list seems to be classics.

    1. I think so, too. And I'm sure they will, it has been such a successful book.

  3. Very good choices! I would love to see more of the classic books adapted for TV. I would love to see a movie based on Austen's works but brought into the modern world.

    1. So would I. There is a really nice one by one of my favourite directors, Gurinder Chadhar. It's called Bride and Prejudice, she's put it into modern day India and made it into an almost Bollywood film. Fantastic.

Thanks for your visit and for leaving your link. I'll have a look.

    1. I think a lot of people do, so we're in good company. If it was up to me, they could make classic adaptations all the time. ;)

Thanks for your link and your visit. I'll see you on your page.

  5. I'm not a big fan of book-to-film adaptations, although there are a few exceptions. In general, I like Austen adaptations.

    Happy TTT!

    1. Same here, therefore I didn't have many suggestions of new books. There are a few I have enjoyed but not many. Usually, I try to avoid it.

I'll have a look what you came up with this week. Thanks for your visit and happy reading!

    1. That's the beauty of these lists, that we can share our enjoyment with certain books that others don't know and get to know new ones. I detect a few every month.

Thanks for stopping by and leaving a comment. I hope you will find something new that you like.

    1. I'm not surprised, we seem to have a very similar taste in books and I always find something great on your page.

J.N. Stroyar has only written three books, a trilogy. There is not much known about her other than that she is an American scientist living in Germany. I almost suppose it's a pseudonymn.

Anyway, her books are out of print and I only recently found a copy of her third one. You can sometimes find them used online, I found all my copies like that. I highly recommend it. Have you read my post about it?

Anyway, thanks for being such a faithful follower.

      Happy Reading.

  8. I think I read that something is in the works for Where the Crawdads Sing. If it gets adapted, it better be as good as the novel.

    1. I checked IMDb yesterday since I had a similar discussion with Mrs Calloway ^^ on her page. It's listed as "in preparation" but no further details except for the director. Olivia Newman, she's done a few things but nothing I have watched. Let's all hope she'll put all her love into the movie.

    1. A lot of my friends have mentioned that it's hard to get a hold of the copy in their library, it seems like it's a very popular book. I totally understand. Hope you will get to read it soon.

      Good luck and Happy Reading.
