Top Ten Tuesday ~ Top Ten Books I'll Never Read

"Top Ten Tuesday" is an original feature/weekly meme created on the blog "The Broke and the Bookish". This feature was created because they are particularly fond of lists at "The Broke and the Bookish".

It is now hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl.

Since I am just as fond of them as they are, I jump at the chance to share my lists with them! Have a look at their page, there are lots of other bloggers who share their lists here.

This week it's Books I Wish I Had Read as a Child. But since I did Top Ten Books I wish I read as a kid last year, I decided to do a list that I've missed earlier.

I have chosen Books I'll Never Read

So, there are certain type of genres I don't really like much, fantasy, science fiction, horror, crime, all that sort of things. There are exceptions where I still read a book like that but it has to be a crossover or a funny one (like Agatha Christie for a crime story).

Anyway, here is my list of authors and books I don't think I'll ever pick up:

Brashares, Ann "The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants" etc.
Cooper, Jilly (any)
Crighton, Michael "Jurassic Park" etc.
James, E.L. "Fifty Shades of Grey" etc.
King, Stephen (any)
Martin, George R.R. "A Game of Thrones" etc.
Meyer, Stephenie "Twilight" etc.
Paolini, Christopher "Eragon" etc.
Picoult, Jodi (any, I've read one of hers with my book club, My Sister's Keeper, that was one too many)
Tolkien, J.R.R. "Lord of the Rings" etc.
and any books/authors in that direction. I always try to avoid pink covers. 😉

  1. I'm never planning to read Twilight or A Game of Thrones either. :)

    1. There are always books one doesn't care about. I'm sure there are tons of books on my favourite list that others wouldn't want to touch.

      Thanks for stopping by.

  2. I am with you on Picoult. I actually enjoyed The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants. I even read the sequels.

    1. It's one of those chick-lit-books I just thought about. Could have mentioned "Eat, Pray, Love", anything like that. Maybe if you liked "The Sisterhood ..." I should try them one day. LOL

      Thanks for your visit.

  3. Interesting topic! We dislike reading the same genres (fantasy, science fiction, horror, crime). Although, I have read Twilight and I love the LOTR films! Here's my Top Ten Tuesday List!

    1. I thought you might say that we dislike the same topics, I always find interesting books on your page. And LOTR is something a lot of people like, no matter how much they usually dislike fantasy. It's a classic but I doubt I'll read a long series of a genre I usually don't care about.

Anyway, thanks for your comment. I'll visit your page, as well.

  4. I used to be a bigger sci-fi/fantasy fan, so I've read THE LORD OF THE RINGS. I don't read much in that genre anymore. Picoult is actually one of my favorite authors. I love her books because they make me look at hot button issues from all sides. I'm with you on FIFTY SHADES OF GREY and the like - no, thanks!

    Happy TTT (on a Thursday)!

    1. I'm surrounded by fantasy bans (hubby and two sons), so I think that's enough for one family. LOL.

While I do like the kind of subjects, Jodi Picoult touches, I have the feeling she doesn't stand behind them, she only writes about them because it makes money. I can't believe in her, if you know what I mean. But I'm glad there are people who like her and get something out of her writing.
