"Top Ten Tuesday" is an original feature/weekly meme created on the blog "The Broke and the Bookish". This feature was created because they are particularly fond of lists at "The Broke and the Bookish".
It is now hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl.
Since I am just as fond of them as they are, I jump at the chance to share my lists with them! Have a look at their page, there are lots of other bloggers who share their lists here.
Titles That Would Make Good Band Names
As so often with these lists, I could have found hundreds of interesting book titles that would make good band names, here are just a few:
Americanah, Buddenbrooks, Cold Mountain, The Destroyers, Disgrace, Displaced, East Wind: West Wing, Flood of Fire, Gone With the Wind, Hanna's Daughters, Heartburn, Jamila, Lost Geography, Rivers of London, The Weird Sisters, …
That's when I gave up and chose the eleven for my list.
Byatt, A.S. "Possession"
Chabon, Michael "Summerland"
Faulkner, William "Light in August"
Hosseini, Khaled "The Kite Runner"
Kertész, Imre "Fateless" or "Fatelessness" (Hungarian: Sorstalanság - would also be an interesting band name)
Pamuk, Orhan "Snow" (Turkish: Kar - dito ^^)
Rhue, Morton "The Wave"
Sendker, Jan-Philipp "Whispering Shadows" (German: Das Flüstern der Schatten)
Smith, Zadie "White Teeth"
Soueif, Ahdaf "Aisha"
Ulitzkaya, Lyudmila "Imago" or "The Big Green Tent" (Russian: Zelenyi shater/Зеленый шатер)
Americanah would be a great band name for sure!
ReplyDeleteMy TTT .
Yes, I think some sort of American rock for it.
DeleteAnd thanks for the visit. I will head over to your page, as well.
DeleteLight in August would be a good band name! Here is our Top Ten Tuesday.
ReplyDeleteDefinitely a good name, I think. Some happy kind of music?
DeleteThanks for your visit. Will head over to your page.
I love Cold Mountain! I could see them as a The Civil Wars type band. :)
ReplyDeleteMy TTT
True, great idea re. the music. I also quite liked the movie, maybe the kind Jack Whyte plays around the bonfire.
DeleteThanks for your visit. I'll head over to your page.
Snow, White Teeth, The Big Green Tent, are all favorite novels I have read.
ReplyDeleteI'm not surprised you found a few that you read. Yes, they are great ones.
DeleteThanks for visiting, as always.
White Teeth! I feel like they would sing death metal.
ReplyDeleteCertainly the best type of music for them. LOL.
DeleteThanks for your visit.
Ooh, fun list. I'm going around this week collecting options to add to my hypothetical show horse name list instead, and from yours I'm adding Whispering Shadows and Imago. Also Americanah, which I cannot believe is not already a racehorse's name, unless that's because it would be construed as a political statement (solution: add a double N?).
ReplyDeleteThat is also a great idea. I'm sure you'll find hundreds of names in your titles.
DeleteGood luck!
And thanks for visiting. Let me know when you've done your list?
DeleteSummerland would be a great name for a band. Maybe they'd make country music...???
ReplyDeleteI had a lot of fun with this week's prompt. Here's my post for Top Ten Tuesday!
I really liked the title Summerland for a band, as well. Yes, country music, shuffle, something like that.
DeleteThanks for your visit. Will head over to your page.
I never realized until today how many book titles would also make great band names. This was such a fun prompt - unfortunately, I couldn't think of any awesome band names, so I did a different topic.
ReplyDeleteHappy TTT!
Same here. What a wonderful idea. I'll never look at book titles the same again.
DeleteWill have to see what kind of topic you did. Thanks for your visit.
