Vreeland, Susan "Girl in Hyacinth Blue" - 1999
I read this because it was a good addition to "Girl with a Pearl Earring". This is another novel about a painting, in this case the life of the fictitious painting by Vermeer which is described starting with the last owner.
I loved this book, it shows history in its best form, through the people who lived it.

I always meant to read this one, but somehow I never have. Too many other books on the list I guess.
ReplyDeleteStory of our lives, Lark. I do recommend this book, though, heartily.
DeleteI missed this one, on my way to your review
ReplyDeleteThanks, Emma. I know you would like it.
DeleteThank you for the tip, looks like a read I would like.
ReplyDeleteDefinitely a book for you, Lisbeth. Even though it's a fictional painting, it's one by Vermeer, I'm sure you would love this story.
DeleteHow interesting. The little thing I can see looks like Vermeer.
DeleteTrue, I must have a look in the book where the painting comes from.
DeleteSo, I checked and found that the painting is by Steven Levin and it's called Hyacinth Blue. It looks like an original Vermeer.
