Happy January!

Happy January to all my friends and readers

New Calendar picture with this
beautiful watercolour painting by Hanka Koebsch

"Eisblumen"
"Ice Flowers"

Hanka and Frank try to brighten our day all the time with their beautiful paintings. This time, it's the Christmas Rose, Latin name Helleborus, flowers in winter. I need to make sure we have some in the garden for next year. So beautiful.

We had a nice beginning of the year. It is a tradition in our area that kids go around to neighbour's houses, wish everyone a happy new year and get some sweets for that. So, it was lovely to have some sweet little people at the door, they are always so cheerful.

Usually, this month, we look forward to events in the coming year, a holiday, a celebration with loved ones. Now, for the last two years, we haven't had to possibility to do any of that let alone see most of our friends and family. And while we hope that this will get better this year, we remember to say the same thing last year and nothing of that happened.

Luckily, for us readers, we are not as bad off as people with other hobbies. Still, it would be nice to participate in a real life discussion again. Wouldn't it?

So, I wish you all a wonderful year 2022. May Covid leave us alone so that we can take up our old pastimes again. And may we be able to talk to those who are of different opinions without getting angry or upset. And convince them of our ways, of course. 😉

Personally, our December was the best month of the year since we had both our sons here for Christmas.

    1. Would be nice being able to go out without a mask, Lark. And meeting any friends we want. Let's all hope.

And yes, the paintings by Hanka and Frank are just beautiful. Thanks.

  2. I'm so glad you got to have your kids home! Mine were all here for Christmas, too - it just doesn't feel complete around here without all of them here.

    Happy New Year, my friend!

    1. Thanks, Susan. Last year was horrible. Not only were we home alone, but at least we were together but the boys were all alone in their apartments and we could only skype.

This year was so much more fun. One of my sons brought his best friend from elementary school, an American boy (well, man in the meantime, LOL) who lives in Europe now and couldn't visit his family. Since we're good friends with his parents, as well, we skyped with them. It was a good Christmas.
