Wordless Wednesday ~ Church in Oldenburg

  1. I love churches. Eleanor and I found some really cool ones last summer when we were wandering around the countryside. The abandoned ones make me so sad, when I think about them serving farming communities for so long, all the baptisms and weddings and funerals they saw, and now left to the elements.

    1. I know, Sarah, it's always sad Over here, they usually transform them into something else, like this one in Maastricht which is now a beautiful bookshop.

  2. Wonderful! Which church is it? My Aunt Erika, who recently passed away, lived in Oldenburg.

    1. It's the church of St. Peter, a Roman Catholic church in the middle of the town. I'm sure your aunt knew it.

    2. She once took my best friend Ute and me to the vigil Mass on Saturday, but I do not remember what church it was. It is such a long time ago! Thanks for the link.

    3. There are not that many R.C. churches in Oldenburg, so if it was downtown, that might have been it.
