The 1976 Club

 #1976Club

A couple of months ago, I was made aware of a book challenge that takes place once a year and concentrates on one year and one year only. This year, 1976 was picked. For more information, see Simon @ Stuck in a Book.

I have tossed through my bookshelves and found just one book, a German one which I am in the middle of reading.

Ditfurth, Hoimar von "Der Geist fiel nicht vom Himmel: Die Evolution unseres Bewußtseins" [The mind did not fall from the sky: the evolution of our consciousness] - 1976

Not an easy choice but highly interesting.

  1. Can't wait to read your thoughts on this one.
I actually believe the club takes place twice a year, in April and October. Simon usually announces the date and the year at the end of the club.

    1. Thanks, Emma. This is one of the few German books that I will review in English because it goes with this challenge.

I had only seen this when 1976 was announced but I will gladly participate in the next challenge. Totally interesting to see who reads what, as well. And hopefull I will be able to complete my Century of Books challenge one day.

  2. I'm always amazed that nearly everyone picks a different book. Your choice is even more unusual. Will look forward to learning more.

    1. That's true, Lory. I suppose, there are so many books every year that it would be amazing if we all picked the same one. And mine are often different because there is hardly any other German in our community here. And this one hasn't been translated, unfortunately, it's so informative.

    1. That's because I have found so many great bloggers like you, Sarah. They keep inspiring me all the time. And what's nice about the blog community (as opposed to other internet ones), everyone is so NICE.

    2. Aw, thank you! I think the same of you!

And it's true we are a lot nicer than other communities...though I am sometimes not so nice when I tear a book apart for being absolute nonsense. But I try not to do that too often...

    3. You're welcome, Sarah.

It's fine if you dislike a book, even if it is one of my favourites (hasn't happened so far, though). We can't all like the same books and I follow some bloggers whose books I would never touch (and I'm sure they wouldn't mine) but I like talking to them. And the nice thing here is, nobody puts someone down for reading different books which is not always the same with other topics on other social websites. We can even talk about politics or religion.
