Top Ten Tuesday ~ Book(ish) Christmas Presents

"Top Ten Tuesday" is an original feature/weekly meme created on the blog "The Broke and the Bookish". This feature was created because they are particularly fond of lists at "The Broke and the Bookish". It is now hosted by Jana from That Artsy Reader Girl.

Since I am just as fond of them as they are, I jump at the chance to share my lists with them! Have a look at their page, there are lots of other bloggers who share their lists here.

This week, our topic is Most Recent Additions to My Book Collection and I didn't even have to twist that topic as much as usual. I just chose my bookish Christmas presents.

The Bake-Off Team "The Great British Bake Off: A Bake for all Seasons" - 2021 (Goodreads)

Obama, Barack; Springsteen, Bruce "Renegades: Born in the USA" - 2021 (Goodreads)

Rutherfurd, Edward "China" - 2021

Sauer, Walter, Hrsg. "Die Weihnachtsgeschichte in den Sprachen Europas" [The Christmas story in the languages of Europe] - 1995
(Goodreads)

Whilst the first three were on my wishlist, I hadn't even heard of the last one. My brother found it this summer and knew it was the perfect Christmas present for me. And it was. It contains all European languages including e.g. Basque and some languages I had never heard of as well as my native language Lower German and Esperanto. Brilliant.

The non-books among my bookish presents are a large and sturdy tote for all of the "bookworm's belongings" (including a tote, LOL), a pillow with a dinosaur carrying lots and lots of books and a Christmas ornament that went directly on our tree.

The most beautiful Christmas present, however, was that my sons made it home this year.

    1. They certainly are, Dini. I loved everything. And I am sure your dad will love "Renegades" if he's at all interested in the two authors. I know I am, a delightful book.

    1. Haha, Lectrice. So do I. Though I hardly ever use receipts or other flimsy papers for bookmarks as I have so many pretty ones. LOL

    1. Thanks, Lindsey. My youngest son always looks for some literary gifts, he says they always work. And he is SO right.

  6. I actually promised myself that I will NOT take part in this week's TTT and NOT look at all the new books on display. So many awesome books I've never even heard of.

    Enjoy all your new books!

    1. Definitely wonderful gifts. And the books were all on my wishlist (well, one wasn't but I didn't even know it existed and I'm sure you would love it, as well). I think you would enjoy Rutherfurd, so much history in his books.

  11. Great gifts. I got two books. When my son asks me what I wish for Christmas, I always say a book. He thinks this is not a good enough present. This year I convinced him it was, and received a book about Swedish painter/artist Hilma af Klint, which I wanted to read.

    1. In our family, we always have books as gifts, Lisbeth. Christmas, birthday, special occasions, it's not a good feast if there are no books involved. LOL.

I hadn't heard the name Hilma af Klint but I just googled her and I certainly have seen her art. Beautiful. Tell your son, a great gift!
