Top Ten Tuesday ~ Top Ten Book Events/Festivals I’d Love to Go to Someday

"Top Ten Tuesday" is an original feature/weekly meme created on the blog "The Broke and the Bookish". This feature was created because they are particularly fond of lists at "The Broke and the Bookish".

It is now hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl.

Since I am just as fond of them as they are, I jump at the chance to share my lists with them! Have a look at their page, there are lots of other bloggers who share their lists here.

Book Events/Festivals I’d Love to Go to Someday (Real or Fictional)

There are so many interesting festivals and events around books that I would love to go to. But I have restricted myself to some that I might, just might, be able to visit one day (in alphabetical order by place).

Jane Austen Festival, Bath, England, UK - Website
Frankfurter Buchmesse, Frankfurt, Germany - Website
Hay Festival of Literature & Arts, Haye on Wye, Powys, Wales, UK - Website
Leipziger Buchmesse, Leipzig, Germany - Website

And then there are many, many libraries I'd love to visit or have visited. These are in alphabetical order according to country.

Hendrik Conscience, Antwerpen, Belgium - Website
Reading Room at the British Museum, London, England - Website, Blog
Bodleian Library, Oxford, England, UK - Website

Oberlausitzische Bibliothek der Wissenschaften, Görlitz, Germany - Website
Stadtbibliothek Stuttgart, Germany - Website
Duchess Anna Amalia Library, Weimar, Germany - Website
Herzog (Duke) August Library, Wolfenbüttel, Germany - Website

Trinity College Library, Dublin, Ireland - Website
see also my post about Dublin

Rijksmuseum Library, Amsterdam, Netherlands - Website
Boekhandel Dominicanen, Maastricht, Netherlands - Website
(not a library but a bookshop very worth visiting)

The City Library, Stockholm, Sweden - Website

I know, I haven't kept to the ten places/events - again. But sometimes, I just can't help myself.

  1. One of my blog friends chose the Nobel Prize award in Stockholm. Should have thought of that one.

    1. I've been to Wales a couple of times and it's fantastic, unfortunately never at the time of the festival. One day ... one day.

Thanks for the link, will visit you soon.

    1. Definitely not the same but at the moment, that's all we have. I always think about the poor people a hundred years ago who didn't have that option during their pandemic.

Thanks for leaving your link, always fun to see what others have written.

    1. Same here. So many great places to visit. It's something to look forward to when Corona is over.

Thanks for your link, you posted later than me yesterday - that's a first, I think. Will go and visit you later.

    1. Ooooh, my top wish. It's on every year in Bath in September (except for this year, of course). People dress up in costumes like in the Jane Austen films, they show short theatre pieces, they have all sorts of events around Jane Austen and her time. Sounds wonderful. Check out the link to the website I posted above, just looking at the pictures makes for a wonderful time.

And thanks for your link. I will certainly have a look at your choices.

    1. Except for three of them (Trinity College Library, Dublin Rijksmuseum Library, Amsterdam, and the Boekhandel Dominicanen, Maastricht), I haven't been to any of them, either. But I hope to be able to visit some of them in future, at least.

      Thanks for your visit.

    1. I'm sure it is. Somehow, I have never made it to these kind of events but I was planning to do a few of them once we are retired ... who would have anticipated Corona?

Anyway, always nice to hear from you. Thanks for your visit.

  15. What a fun list! I love that you included libraries -- there are so many great ones. This is a total fantasy for me but I want to visit the new Library of Alexandria in Egypt.

    1. Thank you, Joy. Whenever I think of book places, I think of those wonderful old libraries that you can see all around the world. Yes, the Alexandria library seems like a great place to want to visit. But, just as you, I have only included those places where I have a remote chance to see them one day.

Thanks for your vist and see you again soon. Either here or on your lovely page.
