#ThrowbackThursday. The Children's War Series

Stroyar, J.N. "The Children's War", "A Change of Regime" and "Becoming Them" - 2001, 2004, 2017

"When people say that Germany lost WWII, I always answer, the Germans didn't lose the war, the Nazis did. Have you ever wondered what would have happened if the Nazis had won?"

This is how I started the review of my favourite book in 2010 that I had read six years earlier.

If you like alternate history, you should definitely try these novels. The author describes the world how it would be today if the war had ended differently. I have recommended this to so many people and they all loved it.

See my original reviews here:

Stroyar, J.N. "The Children's War" - 2002
- "A Change of Regime" (The Children's War 2) - 2004
- "Becoming Them" (The Children's War 3) - 2017

    1. Thanks, Emma. It is a lot longer than this one, of course. My favourite of them all.

    1. True, Lark. They make us realize what could have been and that often we have been really lucky. They also show us the biggest fears of a certain time.

  3. I am not a big fan of war stories, but these might be different.

    1. Hmmm, yeah, they are not about the war but what could have happened after, what probably would have happened after.

  4. I think I would be interested in reading this series at some point. Alternative histories can be really great at exploring so many different options.

    2. I read one a couple years ago called 1066 Turned Upside Down and I absolutely loved it. It is a collection of short essay/stories about the many ways 1066 could have gone - what if Harold won at Hastings, what if Edgar was chosen to rule instead of Harold, what is Harald Hardrada and Tostig won...plus some much more speculative ones that I don't want to spoil. It's a wonderful little gem.
