#ThrowbackThursday. Which Austen Heroine are You?

I haven't done a Throwback Thursday, yet, but will try to do this from time to time.

This was my very first post eleven years ago. I took the test again today and guess what?

I am still Elinor Dashwood, eleven years ago as well as today.

Take the Quiz here

Who are you? Elizabeth Bennet, Elinor Dashwood, Anne Elliot, Catherine Morland, Fanny Price, or Emma Woodhouse? I always thought I would be most closest to Anne Elliot but maybe that's because "Persuasion" is my favourite Jane Austen novel?

See my original post here.

  1. I've gotten Elinor Dashwood before on these quizzes, but this time around I got Catherine Morland. Must be that reading of horrid novels. ;D

    1. That's totally possible, Lark. "Northanger Abbey" is my least favourite Austen though it's still a lot better tahn those of many other authors.

  2. Sometimes, our literary tastes differ. I cannot stand Austen!

    1. Oh, that's interesting, Emma. You generally seem to like classics, so I'm surprised you don't like Jane Austen. But we all have a right to our own taste.

You still could do the test because it hasn't got a lot to do with her books.

  3. I do love classics, but I have a hard time with the social milieu in her novels. And some I have studied a lot, preparing École Normale Supérieure. It didn't help.
So I did the quiz, and I have the same result as yours!

    1. I think she had a hard time with it, as well.

I'm glad you did the quiz and somewhow I'm not surprised you have the same result.

  4. So I am Elizabeth Bennett but I don't know what that means because I have never read a Jane Austen novel.

    1. Intersting. Elizabeth "Sarah" Bennett. Well, she IS the heroine of the Jane Austen book that most of her readers love above anyone else.

Have you ever watched any of her movies? I recommend the 1995 series with Jennifer Ehle and Colin Firth. It's the best of all the adaptations.

    2. I don't even know which book she is from!

I've only ever seen Clueless, which is an adaptation of course and not adhering strictly to the actual material in Emma, but it is one of my most favorite movies from my childhood.

    3. See, that's a great start, Sarah. If you liked "Clueless", you like the way Jane Austen portrays her characters.

Anyway, Elizabeth Bennett is the heroine of "Pride & Prejudice", the favourite book of most Austen readers (mine is "Persuasion").

Have a look here on IMdB, that's the series I'm talking about. I'm sure you would like it. It might even be on Netflix. Otherwise, try the one with Keira Knightly, it's shorter but therefore, of course, leaves out a lot.
