Zusak, Markus "The Book Thief" - 2005
A great success in our book club. Most members loved it.
This is the story of a little girl in Nazi Germany living with foster parents. An account of little girls growing up, Nazis, Jews, theft, death but most of all, a lot of hope. A warm story, real people dealing with devastating events. We were all deeply touched by it.
We discussed this in our international book club in January 2011.

I've had this in my book pile for a while now. I REALLY must read it. Next year for sure I think!
ReplyDeleteWould be a good idea, Kitten. Enjoy.
DeleteA friend gave me a copy of this, I think. Is the Grim Reaper the narrator?
ReplyDeleteYes, it is. No idea who you are or whether you get a notification about my answer but I hope you will. I know some people do not like that part but I assure you, it is a great novel. Check out my original post.
DeleteI have yet to read this novel!! The novel has actually been sitting in my 'to be read' pile for years.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Lisa. I read it with my book club first and we all really liked it, so I hope you will get to it soon. Enjoy.
DeleteI really need to read this one! I've been meaning to for years, but just keep putting it off. You know how that goes. ;D
ReplyDeleteOh, I totally know, Lark. Too many books, too little time. I still hope you will get to it one day, it really is worth reading.
DeleteI started this book twice, but am not able to go beyond even ten pages.
ReplyDeleteThat's sad, Anon, but we all have books we either don't like or cannot fathom.
