Top Ten Tuesday ~ Top Ten Book Covers with Autumn Colours/Vibes

"Top Ten Tuesday" is an original feature/weekly meme created on the blog "The Broke and the Bookish". This feature was created because they are particularly fond of lists at "The Broke and the Bookish".

It is now hosted by Jana from That Artsy Reader Girl.

Since I am just as fond of them as they are, I jump at the chance to share my lists with them! Have a look at their page, there are lots of other bloggers who share their lists here.

Book Covers with Autumn Colours/Vibes
(or spring if you live in the southern hemisphere)

I'm not a fan of the colour brown but autumn is my absolute favourite season. So, I thought, I'd look for book covers that remind me of autumn and that is primarily brown or a brownish red, or gold. Which is almost like our flag, brown-red-gold instead of black-red gold. And since green and blue are my favourite colours, I'm not unhappy about the added blue on some of the colours. 😄

Anyway, here is my selection, all good books by the way:

Drinkwater, Carol "The Olive Farm: A Memoir of Life, Love and Olive Oil in the South of France" - 2001
Findley, Timothy "Dust to Dust" - 1997
Harris, Joanne "Blackberry Wine" - 2000
Hislop, Victoria "Cartes Postales from Greece" - 2016
Hosseini, Khaled "A Thousand Splendid Suns" - 2007
Mantel, Hilary "Bring up the Bodies" - 2012
Owens, Delia "Where the Crawdads Sing" - 2018
Pamuk, Orhan "My Name is Red" (Turkish: Benim Adim Kirmizi) - 1998
Turner, Nancy E. "Sarah’s Quilt. A Novel of Sarah Agnes Prine and the Arizona Territories, 1906" - 2006
Zusak, Markus "The Book Thief" - 2005

    1. Thank you, that means a lot coming from you. Even though brown is definitely not my favourite colour, autumn is my favourite season, so I did find a few books.

      Thanks for your visit.

    1. True, that is a good point. That was one of the titles that sprang to mind even without approaching my bookshelves.

Thanks for your visit. Your list was great, as well.

    1. Why am I not surprised? Orhan Pamuk is one of my favourite authors, ever. I've read almost all of his books, have one more on my TBR pile.

      Thanks for your visit.

    2. Pamuk was also interesting to listen to on the Gothenburg Book - Fair many years ago

    1. I love quilts and this is a brilliant cover, though I personally would choose more greens and blues. LOL

Thanks for your visit and for leaving your link. I'll see you there.

  5. I actually love brown - I wear it all the time, probably because I have brown eyes and brown hair! Brown is a little dull in nature, though. The desert where I live is mostly brown - I definitely prefer green and Fall colors like orange, yellow, and red.

    Happy TTT!

    1. It probably fits your skin. Have you ever had your colours "done"? I guess you are an autumn whereas I am a summer and therefore my favourites are all bluish, I guess.

In my country, brown is also a political opinion and I grew up associating the colour with the sad history. My parents (who lived through WWII) would always mention that someone was "brown", not a party you would want to be associated with.

Thanks for your visit. Looking forward to your list.

    2. I have had my colors done and, you're right, I'm an Autumn. Supposedly, browns, oranges, yellows, etc. look best on me.

How interesting that brown has a deeper connotation in your country. I guess red has the same in some countries, although it's not a term you hear much anymore outside of books and movies.

    3. I was almost sure you must be an autumn. We often prefer the colours that suit us best. And you look like one.

About the colour brown, our country was dominated hard by that party who prefered it and those of us (resp. our ancestors) who didn't vote for him, had to suffer triple, first like everyone else who lived in the country and had to live in wartime, second by knowing that you couldn't trust your neighbours or sometimes not even your family members and had to keep your thoughts very secret. And third by association with the party even a long time after all of that was luckily over. Even my generation and the next are not always very welcome elsewhere because some still consider us Nazis.

Red might be similar but it wasn't all just the one country. Racists are everywhere but as a German you are often put into that drawer right away. That's why I'm so anxious that we should get rid of even the slightest attempt to resurrect that idea.

    1. Thank you, Leslie, a visit to my bookshelves did the job. I found many more but chose these because I like them best.

And yes, if you haven't read Crawdads, it's time. The best book I read this year. Enjoy and let me know how you liked it. ♥

    1. It doesn't have just one, it has two sequels. Sarah's Quilt and The Star Garden. Both great novels, just as good as the first one.

      Thanks for visiting.

  12. Glad you found some books to feature despite the challenges. I've not read it, but "The Book Thief" seems like it'd be a good atmospheric autumn read, too. :) Thanks so much for visiting Finding Wonderland.

    1. Thank you for revisiting. Yes, "The Book Thief" is a good book but I probably wouldn't call it "atmospheric". I can heartily recommend it, though.

    1. Very autumny. I already said that my preferred colours are green and blue but the other additions have put more life to the brown.

      Thanks for stepping by.
