"Top Ten Tuesday" is an original feature/weekly meme created on the blog "The Broke and the Bookish". This feature was created because they are particularly fond of lists at "The Broke and the Bookish".
It is now hosted by Jana from That Artsy Reader Girl.
Since I am just as fond of them as they are, I jump at the chance to share my lists with them! Have a look at their page, there are lots of other bloggers who share their lists here.
This week's topic is: Valentine’s Day/Love Freebie
I'm not a reader of romances. So, I was surprised that I found lots of books with "Love" in their title. Mind you, not many of them are love stories, though. Some are about wars or other conflicts. All good books, though.
I wonder how many others have the book about THE most famous love story in their list: "Love Story".
García Márquez, Gabriel "Love in the Time of Cholera" (Spanish: El amor en los tiempos del cólera) - 1985
Grjasnowa, Olga "All Russians Love Birch Trees" (German: Der Russe ist einer, der Birken liebt) - 2012
Hislop, Victoria "Those Who Are Loved" - 2019
Morrison, Toni "Love" - 2003
Oz, Amos "A Tale of Love and Darkness" (Hebrew: סיפור על אהבה וחושך, Sipur) - 2002
Şafak, Elif "The Forty Rules of Love: A Novel of Rumi" - 2001
Schami, Rafik "The Dark Side of Love" (German: Die dunkle Seite der Liebe) - 2004
See, Lisa "Peony in Love" - 2007
Segal, Erich "Love Story" - 1970
Soueif, Ahdaf "The Map of Love" - 1999

I've never read Love! I'd bet it's good, though.

It definitely is. If you love Toni Morrison, you certainly will like this one.
DeleteThanks for visiting and for your link. I'll see you on your page.
I'm not much of a romance reader either. Last year I found 159 books on my shelf with love in the title. How well I remember Love Story.
ReplyDeleteIt's funny, isn't it, how much that word creeps into all sort of books. I think "Love Story" is about the only book on my list that really is a love story, though still not the usual romantic one.
DeleteI think anyone our age remembers that book. And the film.
Thanks for your visit.
I've heard so many good things about Love!
ReplyDeleteAnd they are all correct.
DeleteThanks.
I found that I'm not as big of a romance reader than I thought I was, so I just kinda made up books with romance tropes this week!
ReplyDeleteThat sounds exciting. Will have to check what you found.
DeleteThanks for stepping by.
I have read several of these and I mean to read Those Who Are Loved.
ReplyDeleteWhy am I not surprised? Those are just the kind of books we both like. I'm sure you'll love "Those Who Are Loved" as well as any other book by Victoria Hislop. I know I do.
DeleteThanks, as always, for your visit.
Nice list of books with the word love in them.
ReplyDeleteThank you so much for coming and commenting.
DeleteI love books on love! I haven't read these ones yet.
ReplyDeleteI know you do, Deanna. That's why you'll have fewer problems to fill this list, right?
DeleteAnyway, I'll have to check. Thanks for your visit.
Oooh! All of these books sound interesting! Great list!
ReplyDeleteHere’s my TTT!
Ronyell @ Rabbit Ears Book Blog
Thanks, Ronyell. I did choose those that I found most interesting so I hopeed others do, as well.
DeleteThanks for visiting and leaving your link. I'll come by soon.
I've not read any of these! I'll have to look them up. Here is our Top Ten Tuesday. Thank you!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Poinsettia. You can always check my links where I give a description or go to Goodreads from there (just click on the picture), maybe tehre are a few that you'd be interested.
DeleteI'm curious on your list now. Will check out your link. Thanks for leaving it and thanks, as always for your visit and comment.
Ooh, The Map of Love sounds interesting. I tend to enjoy dual-timeline novels that focus on uncovering family history, but the ones I find are usually U.S. based -- non-ancient Egyptian history is not something I know a whit about, and that makes it all the more appealing.
ReplyDeleteThat's what I love about this genre, there is so much to learn.
DeleteThe protagonist ist American but most of the book is set in Egypt since she also goes there to find her past.
It was lovely to see that you went through the list to see what the books are about. Thanks for that.
And thanks for your visit and your comment.
How I cried over Love Story. I am not familiar with the other books except In the Time of Cholera which is on my list to read. Checking my TBRs I find only three books with Love in the title.
ReplyDeleteLawrence, D.H. - Women in Love
Lawrence, D.H. - Sons and Lovers
Oz, Amos - En berättelse om kärlek och mörker
(A Tale of Love and Darkness)
Although I am a little bit of a romance reader from time to time.
I don't cry often over books or films but this was certainly one of the saddest I ever read. I believe I read it even before I watched it.
DeleteI was surprised how many books I found with the word "love" in their title. But most of them are not love stories. Or romantic in any way.
I think you would like a few of the books on that list.
Happy Reading!
Love Story! "All Russians Love Birch Trees" sounds interesting. I've read a few by Lisa See, but not that one. Another love title I liked would be Love, Rosie by Cecelia Ahern.
ReplyDeleteLisa at https://hopewellslibraryoflife.wordpress.com/
So you are one of the love story readers, Lisa?
DeleteOlga Grjasnowa belongs to one of the many families who immigrated from Azerbaijan to Germany after the fall of the Soviet Union. This novel is based on her own experience, quite interesting.
I haven't read anything by Cecilia Ahern, not really my kind of genre. But I loved the film version of one of her books "P.S. I Love You".
Thanks for the visit and for leaving your link. Will have to see what you came up with. Have a good weekend.
I love romance, but I haven't read any of these yet, so thank you for sharing them! <3
ReplyDeleteProbably because none of my books here are very romantic, except for "Love Story", maybe, even that has a sad end. But great novels.
DeleteThanks for visiting.
Awesome list! I need to read Love in the Time of Cholera
ReplyDeleteGarcía Márquez is always worth reading. I need to read more by him.
DeleteThanks for your visit.
