Top Ten Tuesday ~ Best Reads in 2021

"Top Ten Tuesday" is an original feature/weekly meme created on the blog "The Broke and the Bookish". This feature was created because they are particularly fond of lists at "The Broke and the Bookish". It is now hosted by Jana from That Artsy Reader Girl.

Since I am just as fond of them as they are, I jump at the chance to share my lists with them! Have a look at their page, there are lots of other bloggers who share their lists here.

This week, our topic is Best Reads in 2021

I always have a hard time when it is time to decide which ones were the best book of the year even though I keep adding the best books to my list of favourite books ever all the time (see here).

But, as usual, I come to a list in the end. And here it is:

Elliot, Jason "An Unexpected Light. Travels in Afghanistan" - 1999

Harris, Kamala "The Truths We Hold. An American Journey" - 2019

Hislop, Victoria "One August Night" - 2020

Krug, Nora "Belonging: A German Reckons With History and Home" (GE: Heimat. Ein deutsches Familienalbum) - 2018

Lee, Min Jin "Pachinko" - 2017

McLain, Paula "The Paris Wife" - 2012

Obama, Barack "A Promised Land" - 2020

Orth, Stephan "Couchsurfing in Iran: Revealing a Hidden World" (GE: Couchsurfing im Iran - Meine Reise hinter verschlossene Türen) - 2015

Pamuk, Orhan "The Naïve and the Sentimental Novelist" (TR: Saf ve Düşünceli Romancı) - 2011

Towles, Amor "A Gentleman in Moscow" - 2016

    1. And I am sure you will enjoy both of them, Lindsey. They are really great. Pachinko is that kind of book that everyone must love, no matter what genre they usually prefer.

    1. Thanks, Jennifer. I started that long before I had a blog, long before book clubs even existed, that's why it's so long. And I'm sure it will grow even longer ...

  3. You reminded me that I need to check the library waitlist for the Obama memoir. I was going to put my name on the list when the book first came out, but the list was so massive that I didn't bother. I'm glad you enjoyed all these!

    1. Thanks, Aj, I can imagine that the list was long. I usually don't buy hardbacks but couldn't wait for the paperback here. But I found a used one which was almost the same prize as a pb will eventually be. Really loved it.

    1. A great book, Greg. She's a good writer and from what I deduct from her actions, a good person. Amazing what she did and still does to achieve a better world for all of us.

    1. Thanks, Cindy. I feel blessed with my reader friends and all these fantastic other bloggers who always recommend the best books for me. And since I'm interested in many different genres but mainly in books where I can learn something new, my lists are usually quite diverse. Glad you approve.

    1. I think everyone would love Pachinko, Dini, it is such a great book. Obama's book is fantastic. But I am a huge fan of him, so no wonder I liked it so much.

Somehow they sent me "Gentleman in Moscow" twice when I orderd it and told me to keep the extra copy. So, if you're interested, send me your address. My e-mail is in my profile.

    3. Oh, I see, you didn't read them last year. I never look at that, I just tell others that I read a book. LOL

    1. Yes, they are both great, Annette. And I know all about having to move up certain books, so many people read different books that are on my TBR pile, I doubt I'll ever finish it. LOL

Happy New Year to you, as well.
