Top Ten Tuesday ~ Colourful Covers

"Top Ten Tuesday" is an original feature/weekly meme created on the blog "The Broke and the Bookish". This feature was created because they are particularly fond of lists at "The Broke and the Bookish".

It is now hosted by Jana from That Artsy Reader Girl.

Since I am just as fond of them as they are, I jump at the chance to share my lists with them! Have a look at their page, there are lots of other bloggers who share their lists here.

This week's topic is: Colourful Book Covers

We had "Book Titles That Sound Like They Could Be Crayola Crayon Colours" and we carry on with colours this week.

What is colourful? It can be a cover with many different colours. Or one with two contrasting colours that immediately catch your eye. Or one with just one colour but that one very vibrant. Even though I don't often read books with colourful covers, I think (hope) I found examples for all of them.

Adichie, Chimamanda Ngozi "Americanah" - 2013
Brown, Rita Mae "Loose Lips" - 1999
Dai, Sijie "Balzac and the Little Chinese Seamstress" (French: Balzac et la Petite Tailleuse Chinoise) - 2002
Fredriksson, Marianne "Hanna’s Daughters" (Swedish: Anna, Hanna og Johanna) - 1994
Gavalda, Anna "Hunting and Gathering" (French: Ensemble c’est tout) - 2006
Kingsolver, Barbara
"The Lacuna" - 2009
Lee, Min Jin "Pachinko" - 2017
MacDonald, Ann-Marie "The Way the Crow Flies" - 2003
Pamuk, Orhan "The Red-Haired Woman" (Turkish: Kırmızı Saçlı Kadın) - 2016
Stewart, Sheila "Ramlin Rose" - 1993

    1. Thanks, Lydia. I had to search a little since most of my covers are more dreary but I think I found the most colourful ones in the end. Thank you for visiting.

    1. Thank you, Lindsey, that is also a wonderful book. Frida Kahlo appears, I guess the cover is a tribute to her.

As always, thanks for your visit.

  4. Same. Most of the books I read have dark, broody colors. I couldn't think of colorful ones today, so I did historical novels with covers like the one for THE RED-HAIRED WOMAN. It's amazing how many of them feature women facing away from the camera wearing red.

    Happy TTT!

    1. That sounds like a great idea, Susan. You always have such great twists on the topics. I'll have a look anyway but this makes me really curious.

      Thanks for coming by.

P.S. Next week I'll do a twist on the topic.

    1. Thanks, Greg. It's always nice to know what others like. Yes, Loose Lips is very colourful. The book is part of a trilogy and that was the cover with the brightest colours.

I think this challenge wasn't all that easy for either of us but I quite like what you did on your page.

      Thanks for stepping by.

    1. Oh, I never saw the movie, I'm always very, very reluctant to watch a movie when I loved the book. If you tell me it's good, I might have to look for it. Thanks, Emma.

    1. Thanks, Sarah. It is also a great novel by my favourite Turkish author (and one of my favourite overall).

It was so much fun going through old covers and chosing the most colourful ones.

    1. Thank you, Christopher. It is a great book, as well. I even talked to the author when I lived in the UK, her stories about how she met some of those women who lived on the narrowboats their whole lifes where both breathtaking and devastating, yet also wonderful.

      Thanks for visting.
